Only a few days left...

Just a reminder that your 10 to 15 printed and matted photographs are all due May 5th. That is a little over a week from now.

These open studio days before May 5th are to help you have time to print and matt your work as well as get help and feedback from me. As you saw on the demo, the printing and matting take considerable time!

Project #2: Long Exposures/Night Photography

Project #2: Long Exposure (long shutter speeds) / Night Photography
Due: February 26

For this assignment you will be required to create 6 photographs that experiment with shooting at night or with long exposures.

A tripod will be helpful for this assignment but not necessary. If you want to work with a tripod they are available for check out.

This may be a great assignment to experiment with the “bulb” setting on your camera. If you do not have a “bulb” option on your camera but are interested in working with that you can always check out one of the digital rebels.

Also, bring those scavenger hunt files in on a flash drive or hard drive to class on Thursday, Jan 29th.

Reminders:
As mentioned in the syllabus, class is cancelled on Tuesday.
Remember to start Project 1:Everyday by January 28th!

Project 1: Everyday

Project 1: Everyday Assignment
DUE February 12

For this assignment you will be required to shoot everyday. When making your daily photographs, consider photographing something that you weren’t expecting to see, something you enjoy seeing everyday, the places, people and things around you.

Think about how photography can elevate the ordinary or how the camera can be used like a visual diary. Shoot several photographs throughout the day and select your favorite at the end of each day to post to your blog and turn in for critique. You will do this 15 consecutive days. Be thoughtful about your photographs.  Shoot with intention.  To complete this assignment on time you need to begin by January 28, 2015

For inspiration, look at artists: William Eggleston, Stephen Shore, Joel Sternfeld, Alec Soth, Byron Wolf, Whitney Hubbs, and Tracey Baran.

For the critique:   1. Bring in all 15 files saved as jpegs and named:
           LASTNAME_01.jpg, LASTNAME_02.jpg, etc
You will turn these files into me and project them in class for critique
       2.  Upload these images to your blog daily
       3.  Screen Shot of your folder structure
