Project #2: Long Exposures/Night Photography

Project #2: Long Exposure (long shutter speeds) / Night Photography
Due: February 26

For this assignment you will be required to create 6 photographs that experiment with shooting at night or with long exposures.

Consider how you can use movement and light to create ephemeral presences in your photographs, or document the surreal ways in which both natural and artificial light illuminate our night landscape.

A tripod will be helpful for this assignment but not necessary. If you want to work with a tripod they are available for check out.

This may be a great assignment to experiment with the “bulb” setting on your camera. If you do not have a “bulb” option on your camera but are interested in working with that you can always check out one of the digital rebels.

Artists to look at for inspiration: Francesca Woodman,Todd Hido, Beau Comeaux,  Hiroshi Sugimoto, Michael Wesley, Tokihiro Sato

For the critique:
You will post your 6 photographs to your blog and bring in your 6 photographs to project in class for critique.
